Smme in Botswana free essay sample

In its effort to diversify the economy away from dependency on the mineral sector, the government of Botswana realised the importance of supporting Smmes in fostering economic growth and creating jobs. Over the past two decades, targeted financial support as well as advisory programmes to help the people of Botswana to establish their own enterprises was introduced and implemented at different levels. In the initial stages, â€Å"the programmes were set up more in response to specific problems encountered than as the basis of a comprehensive and more focused government policy on Smmes† (RB, 1999). However, in recent times the landscape has since changed with government and the private sector pulling resources together in a crusade to assist the local Smmesector. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of the Smme sector by reviewing the initiatives undertaken by government. Such initiatives include policy formulation and the implementation of programmes intended to assist the Smme sector in Botswana. We will write a custom essay sample on Smme in Botswana or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page A review of the literature on definitions and categorisation of Smmes indicates that there is no single and standard definition for Smmes. It is in this regard that the Government of Botswana accepted the criteria proposed by the Smme Task Force of 1998 in defining the three categories of enterprises, using annual turnover and the number of employees. A micro enterprise is defined as a business with the number of employees not exceeding six and a maximum annual turnover equal to or less than BWP 60,000. 00. A small enterprise makes an annual turnover of between BWP 60, 000. 00 and BWP 1. 5 million and employs not more than 25 people. A medium enterprise is defined as a firm that has a maximum number of 250 employees and an annual turnover of between BWP 1. 5 million and BWP 5 million (RB, 1999). The Smme Policy (1999) notes that, even though the categorisation is retained as a guide for broad policy purposes, the Policy leaves room to consider more specific definitions such as when a particular government policy on e. g. taxation or direct assistance programme is developed. It has been an observation that many small business owners fail to realise the importance of the accounting function and as a result cause the failure of the business (Stone, 2003, preface). Mason et al in Buckland and Davis (1995) in conjunction with the latter, observe that entrepreneurs often have difficulty in convincingly conveying their specialized knowledge to a bank manager. In Great Britain banks are a recognized source of start-up and working capital. According to Hughes and Storey (1994) they are however, not a particularly easy source, putting a priority on security/collateral and for intervention of the state. Thus, Smme require support if they are to survive and grow. According to Miroslav and Drnovsek in Kirby and Watson (2003), one of the obstacles that hindered the creation of new ventures in Slovania includes lack of capital financing for small business initiatives on the part of banks and other financial institutions. Banks were reluctant to lend to small businesses and practically no venture funds existed. New entrepreneurs primarily obtained the requisite resources from family members and friends (Kirby and Watson, 2003). The absence of, or at least poor access to finance, was an important negative factor affecting SMMEs in Romania and Bulgaria. According to Kirby and Watson (2003), in 1998, just 8-10 percent of the firms in Bulgaria had access to bank loans. The rigid requirements of the commercial banks for serving the loans(e. g. collateral and terms) extend to firms as well as the high cost of debt (Kirby and Watson,2003). In South Africa the White Paper on National Strategy for the Development and Promotion of Small Business (1995) reinvented the wheel for the Smme sector. The Small Business Development Act of (1996) indicates that up to 78 percent of the small businesses started in South Africa eventually failed. It is therefore necessary for the South African government to adopt specific economic and social policies to stimulate Smme development as an essential part of the economic and social development of the entire country. It is though important for entrepreneurs to help themselves and find ways to improve the organisation of their businesses, and the skills of their employees. They also have to find the adequate means to adapt to the market requirements if they are to survive.

English Patient Essays - The English Patient, Lszl Almsy, Hana

English Patient The English Patient, directed by Anthony Minghella, is a romantic, melodramatic film which defines the art of cinematography. The internal and external rhythms, lighting, camera angles, lenses, music, dialogue, and editing are displayed in a way which conveys the meanings and themes to the viewer in such a clear and efficient manner. Due to this fine exhibition, it is of the belief that film schools should use this piece of artwork as a guide to students who wish to learn what cinematography actually is. So poetically did this phenomenal cast tell the story based on Michael Ondaatje's novel, that after each viewing , a greater love, understanding, respect and admiration arose without any signs of boredom. One of the numerous themes of The English Patient is the troubles, hardships and ever lasting negative emotions that war causes. It tells us that: even if one is lucky enough to escape the war without physical wounds, emotionally there is no escaping its impact. All of the main characters undergo some sort of pain as a result of the war between the Axis and Ally forces. The protagonist, Count Laszlo Almasy, a Hungarian cartographer, perhaps has been struck the hardest of any. Almasy is rescued from his plane after it is shot down and is soon mistaken for an English soldier. However, his troubles continue as his body is burnt from head to toe leaving the majority of his body immobile. Almasy is dependent on heavy doses of morphine in order to temporarily relieve him of the excruciating pain that he suffers from. Also, if that isn't enough, Almasy fails to save the life of Katherine Clifton, a woman who he loves so dearly. Hana, the British nurse caring for Almasy, fortunately gets through the war without any physical damage. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the emotional impact that she suffers from. At times, the pain is so severe that Hana wishes death upon herself. The diligent Nurse feels as if everyone she has ever loved eventually leaves her. Hana has the horrifying experience of seeing through her very own eyes the death of her companion Jenny during an automobile explosion. In addition, Hana's job requires her to care for war wounded, dying patients who rely on solely hope to survive. Hana sheds some light on the situation when she meets, and perhaps falls in love with, the intellectual Indian bomb specialist, Kip. However, as the war moves on and nears its end, Kip must transfer positions leaving Hana alone with only Almasy and Caravaggio. This sudden departure is just one of the several disappointments Hana faces. Minghella outlines this negative theme throughout the film by displaying numerous tragedies. There exists a parallel between this film and Enrique Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front as both show the horrors of war. However, differences lie in the fact that Remarque's novel took place during World War I and was a factual retelling. On the other hand, The English Patient was based on a novel that set during World War II. It is of the opinion that although The English Patient is a fictitious piece of work, the style in which it was filmed made the viewers feel that it was as real if not more realistic than Remarque's novel/movie. This was accomplished with the remarkable cinematography involved in the making of this film. Another theme of the film is that of love and romance. These two themes are repeatedly brought out by the actions of the characters. The most illustrious example of this lies in the relationship between Count Laszlo Almasy and Katherine Clifton. Almasy first encounters Clifton, in the desert where they flirtatiously argue about the use of adjectives in literature. Almasy later sees Mrs. Clifton in an outdoor market in Cairo where Almasy shows his affection towards her for the first time. These feelings are become evident through their powerful dialogue. Later, Clifton confronts Almasy about him following her home after leaving the market during a slow dancing at a formal affair. The married Clifton, at first reluctant to have any sexual relationship with Almasy, later finds herself unable to resist temptation and soon falls in love with the obsessed Almasy. The handsome Almasy shows his love towards Clifton in many ways including walking for days across the deserts of Cairo hoping to find a doctor who can save the wounded Clifton. The film extrapolates on their relationship by showing numerous sexual interactions between the

Disposable Society Essay Example

Disposable Society Essay Example Disposable Society Paper Disposable Society Paper Disposable Society BY Arabia I quite agree with the statement we live In Disposable society. During my school years and college years, I often heard about foreign countries also I noticed that they stressed Its cleanliness. My friends and relatives told me that If we want to live In a healthy and clean environment we have to go to foreign countries such as America, London, Singapore. I always had a dream to live in theses nice countries. My dream became true now. Ten years ago, when I arrived to Chicago, I could notice cleanliness everywhere easily. That view stays in my mind ever. The park I saw with no filthy but only greenish grass. Beach has only filled with sand and water not even a single trash. The steps government followed to maintain the clean environment made me astonished. Since People spend most of their time in Park, Beach, and library. I was so surprised to see the view. I wondered, and said wow in my mind. But now everything changed! First and foremost, the city where I live at present, the view made me puzzled! Even when I go to different cities or states, the view forced me to ask think this question myself- where Is the clean environment? When e think about the matter of cleanliness, there Is no clean anywhere except everywhere trash, plastic papers, soda tins, cigarette pieces, bulk of diapers, used appliances, electronics, and furniture. Peoples action shows that they are not care about clean and healthy environment. What kind of actions led them they dont care? People are nowadays Spitting on streets, blowing their nose, throwing babys diap er, throwing chewing gum wrappers, and not being a role model for their child to maintain a clean environment. Secondly, People are so fond of new version of electronics and games. Even though their computer might work proper but not purporting any new version of software then they are in a situation to buy new one which is compatible for their desired software. To avoid this they might buy windows operating system which Is supporting for most of the software. And about the games, once they beat one game then they are ready to buy another game. Thirdly, people are so addict of fast food, thus they use lots of using throw boxes, and dumping their garbage. Long time ago people used durable and long lasting glassware to eat their food. People like new models and fashion which lead them to buy new appliances, furniture, and new outwear. As a consequence they are throwing their used cloths this cause them to dump their garbage. Additionally, people who own the pets must keep a carry bag wherever they go with their pet, so that they can put the waste inside the bag, because the dog waste is a harmful element for people as well as animal. Some beaches and in the parks I noticed, there was a plastic carry bag to put dog waste. Finally, No one can refuse the factories are one of the factor of disposable society. For example, waste water, smoke, and air come from sugar or rubber factories. ? But handling of residues is important. Professional can establish waste water treatment method which can change contaminated water Into usable water and build under ground water tubes to prevent the contaminated water from people. So people can live disease free. Even though I see trash and not a clean environment! But people can achieve clean environment soon towards their few adjustments, by following simple steps; keeping two different trash cans for recycle and waste products, donate their used toys, furniture, appliances for recycle, have their own garden to get fresh fruits and vegetables in order to get it whenever they need it. What they expect from their society as a clean environment and not disposable society, and then they must make sure, they are in need to do the necessary steps to keep their environment as clean. Because we might come from in our family, but community consists of families, community consists of state, and so on. So we must keep in our mind and should not fail to do our obligation In order to achieve the clean environment. We have to try to change our country to make sure it is not a disposable society. We are in the time to do our action, by doing small adjustments. So that we will be relieve from living disposable society.

New Venture Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

New Venture - Assignment Example Once the market is there everything can be steamrolled to make the plan work. It would be better if she could conduct market segmentation so as to narrow down her target market to a small niche of consumers who she can supply adequately and profitably, and then slowly expand her clientele. The three points form the first assumption, which is that there is an opportunity which the entrepreneur (Olivia) can take advantage of. There are already plenty of coffee houses in Frankfurt, but Olivia’s decision to focus on flavored gourmet coffee is both strategic and realistic. Does Olivia understand the coffee industry/business well? Does she have a good understanding of the coffee industry in Brazil and that of Frankfurt in particular? These are very important questions because although she may have the capital and the market, the coffee business requires hands-on management and skills. It is not enough to just assemble the materials/resources required for the business. For instance, Olivia needs to understand that just like other industries the coffee retail industry has trends (Langen, 2013). Whether she like it or not those trends will affect her business; this is through aspects like climate changes, demand, market volatility, competition, hoarding, production/supply, and government policies (taxation and regulation). Olivia must have or develop an understanding of these issues because they will have a huge impact (positive or negative, depending on how she addresses them) on the success of her business. As such, we make two assumptions here. One is that she understands how the coffee retail industry works and the dynamics involved. Two is that if she does not understand how it works, she knows people who will support her until she does, and she is willing to learn. It has been mentioned that DC would ship to Olivia on receipt of payment for each order. This comes with its

Cooperate Inquiry Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Cooperate Inquiry - Essay Example The total idea of cooperation inquiry is that research is made with people in contrast to traditional methods based on actions research made on people. The first step is in a research process is to find and formulate a feasible starting point. The main questions of the research are: What issue in practical experience is worth studying over a period of time Does it fit capabilities and do researchers have the resources Is there a fair chance researchers can get somewhere if they research this issue These are questions researchers needs to ask when beginning research. Cooperative inquiry begins with reflection upon such discrepancies and tries to save them from being forgotten in the maze of everyday work (Harwood 72). They become the focus for further development of the research process and for the generation of knowledge about that process. Such discrepancies need not always be negative and problematic for the researchers. Action research can also focus on trying out good ideas for improvements or on the further development of one's own strengths (Schon 43). Second step - action phase - is aimed to tests proposed actions and record expected outcomes. One possible way of testing our knowledge of a situation researchers want to improve and develop is to obtain additional information-perhaps by carrying out an observation or by interviewing other people involved. The whole inventory of data collection methods can be used for this purpose (Schratz and Walker 92). As researchers have seen, other people's views can provide starting points for our own reflection, helping to actuate tacit knowledge or to stimulate researchers to collect additional information. It is important to remain clear that such explanations are hypothetical, providing stimuli for research and development rather than replacing them. By introducing changes, trying out new actions, and observing their results, our view of the situation in which we find ourselves is often deepened. Researchers need to find a pattern in the complexities of the situation identified as the star ting point for research. First, researchers try to identify the most important individual elements of the situation, to distinguish them from less important elements, and describe them as vividly as possible. The main questions at this stage are: What is happening in this situation Which events, actions and features of the situation are important Which people are involved, and in what kind of activities (Smart 82). Phase three is a second action phase. When researchers formulate important individual elements of the practical theory, they should not restrict themselves to what happened, but also take account of the context. Cooperative inquiry does not take place in a laboratory in which the researcher controls most of the context. Their own actions are embedded in a framework of other people's interests and actions. Their research and development activities in turn have consequences for others. This stage usually involves people outside the group and the research (Reason. 2008). The aim of this stage is to generate new ideas and new experiences. The main questions at this stage are: Which other people are affected by my research and deve

Target market for Icelandic Glacial is mainly schools and college canteens, various offices and households (especially bigger bottles), several grocery stores, etc. If segmentation of the target market of Icelandic Glacial is done, there are mainly three segments that can be identified clearly. These are as follows: Foreign tourists: These are the people who really do not like to drink the normal water from anywhere because of the health safety purpose. Domestic tourists: These are the people who really do not waste time in finding water from here and there and would spend money and devote their time in roaming around. Health conscious people and fashionable people: These are people who do not like to drink normal water ever and give priority to mineral water. Mineral water has also become a brand recognition as several people consider it a symbol of high class. Especially, people of age group 20 to 35 years is the main target market for Icelandic Glacial in the home country i.e. Iceland. The main motive of Icelandic Glacial was to produce high quality bottled water not a low quality product which most of the other companies produce. Brief summary of the products/services competitive strategy, marketing program, and positioning in the home market Competitive strategies of Icelandic Glacial Competitive strategies of Icelandic Glacial include a high focus on packaging quality and a cautious placement of the product as a preferred brand in the market. However, the company had a spoilt image in other countries, not because of its product quality but a spill-over effect of the bad name associated with Iceland. This had given a huge advantage to the competitors. To overcome this problem, the company came up with a different bottle with an art work on it and it really worked. It looked as if there is an ice formation on the bottle which really attracted the people. It created a landscape kept in the shelves of the stores just through change in the style. Marketing Programs of Icelandic Glacial In order to get an edge in the market, the owner of the company used his contacts in the business and the film industries which resulted in Icelandic water to be present in every party and even at every film festivals (Birchal, 2007). Opportunities UAE is a very rich country with very high per capita income; Large and very active demand for quality bottled water Unsaturated market expansion possibilities to other GCC countries Threats Competitors in the market size and strength Government protection of domestic suppliers Company Analysis for ENTRY market Analysis of the companys capabilities in entering new market Icelandic Glacial is marketed and distributed in large countries such as the USA, Germany, France, Mexico, UK and Canada. The company entered US in the year 2005 where after being a bad reputation of water being associated to Iceland, company made a stunning reputation. At present scenario, American company, Anheuser-Busch has around 20 percent stake in Icelandic Glacial. Icelandic Glacial is capable of producing 30,000 bottles in an hour. A separate type of distribution takes place in Canada, UK and Netherlands. Recently, Icelandic Glacial entered into the market of China. This packaged drinking water is known for its purity and zero carbon footprints and very much renowned in Europe and North America. It is now entering into the beverage market of China to increase its footprint all across the world (Icelandic Glacial Enters China Beverage Market, 2010). China Water and Drinks is the company which is the subsidiary of a US company Heckmann Corporation Inc. which is taking the responsibility of distribution of Icelandic Glacial in China. It is distributed to all the mentioned companies by various very renowned companies in the sector of water supplies. With such a huge and increasing global distribution and recognition as the purest bottled water in the world with zero carbon footprints, Icelandic Glacial has the capable of launching its product successfully in the UAE which could prove a big market for Icelandic Glacial. UAE, being one of the fast developing countries of the world can easily welcome the product with a huge sale all across the country. There is a huge opportunity for Icelandic Glacial to enter the UAE beverage market and compete with the existing products in its field. Icelandic Glacial could find UAE to be a very successful place like the USA. Identification of the business model Business Model which can be used by Icelandic Glacial for expanding its business in UAE is Distribution Business Model in which the company which has started its business from Iceland, and expanded its business to various countries of the world by distributing its product in the foreign market. UAE will be the next foreign branch of the company in which it will expand its distribution services. Main cost drivers for Icelandic Glacial in UAE for setting up its feet in the market could be huge promotional cost, plant setting up cost, cost of distribution channels, etc. Customer Analysis for ENTRY market Identification of 360-degree profile of customer segments There are almost every company which has its office in UAE and huge number of hypermarkets and shopping complexes. Regular Population Foreign tourists Customer Characteristics Demographics 7.5 Million 10 Million per year Psychographics Treat it as necessity and many treat it as hygienic Do not trust on regular water Location Urban as well as Rural Urban and sub urban Purchase Characteristics Purchase Occasion Very often (purchase it as a regular product) Almost regular Benefit Sought Value in the market Value in the market Product Usage hygienic concerns Necessary Product Evaluation of potential segments and selection of target market Potential Segment for Icelandic Glacial in UAE bottled water industry could be huge numbers of foreign tourists coming, increasing population in UAE. College and school canteens, health conscious people, offices, households, etc can be considered as the target market for the company. Volume potential Bottled water business in the country accounts for more than 40 percent of the total drinking water which gives up a business of AED 570 million (UAEs Bottled Water Industry Set to Sustain Growth by Boosting Capacity, 2009). Demand for drinking water in the country is going to increase in future due to increase in population and tourism. Present companies, for example, Al Ain is planning to expand its business in UAE. This means that there could be a huge projected growth for Icelandic Glacial in the country once it finds a good place in the market. Most of the well established brands in the country produce 15,000 of 1.5 l bottles in an hour. Thus, we can assume that at the starting we could produce 5,000 to 7,000 and in future could easily compete with the competitors. Margin potential The industry is not that price sensitive but price should not be very high or very low. It should be kept as the industry average. The industry average for 1.5 liter packaged drinking water in UAE is between AED 5 to AED 7 for a 1.5 liter bottle. Persuasion potential There are a huge number of competitors in the market like PepsiCo Aquafina, The Coca Cola Company Kinley, Nestle Purelife, Masafi mineral water, Al Ain Mineral water, Gulfa, etc which absolutely satisfy the needs of the customers with Al Ain being the topper in the list with 40 percent share in the market. I would highly recommend Icelandic Glacial to enter into UAE market because there is high need of water market in the country and this is also a fact that almost 40 percent GDP of UAE is based on this business. In spite of the fact that there is a high level of competition in the market, but still market is so high that surviving is very easy. But in order to gain a considerable amount of market share, it is necessary for the company to pursue the customers to buy the product which could be done by high level of promotion of Icelandic Glacial in the local market as taglines like the purest water on earth, etc. Identification of value drivers for the target market Benefits: UAE is a country where there is a huge need for drinking water. It is a market which earns the highest per capital income from packaged drinking water as compared to any other part of the world. Point-of-resistance: There will be huge competition in the market. Almost each and every international brand is present and along with that there are several big and small local brands as well. Industry and Competitive Analysis for ENTRY market Industry analysis Product i.e. Bottled water market is in the maturity stage and this is the reason that Icelandic Glacial is confident enough to enter into the market and get a considerable amount of success. But as the product is in maturity stage it is really difficult to gain a huge amount of market share as there are still companies who have made their brands for the past many years. Porters Five Force Model Bargain power of the Suppliers: It totally depends on the geographical location of the country. There is a huge problem of drinking water in the country as there is inadequate supply of water. Substitute Product: Cold drinks, tea, coffee, juice, etc. can be considered as the substitute products Bargain power of Buyers: Customer has a lot of choices in the market as there are a lot of brands of packaged drinking water exist in the current market New Entrants: Market is in its maturity stage, hence there could be just entrants in the market Rivalries: There is an oligopoly competition in the market as the market is in maturity phase (Bottled Water Industry and Competitive Environment Analysis, 2009). Identification of major competitors and the competitive strategy used by each Major competitors for Icelandic Glacial in UAE could be PepsiCo Aquafina, The Coca Cola Company Kinley, Nestle Purelife, Masafi mineral water, Al Ain Mineral water, Gulfa, etc. Strategies Used by each PepsiCo Aquafina: This Company uses natural and underground water which makes it different from the other brands available in UAE Nestle Purelife: Purelife is imported in the country from Saudi Arabia and it promoted with a statement on it label that Purelife is water coming from natural spring and deep well. Masafi mineral water: This is a local company in UAE which is situated in Ras Al Khaimah. It positions itself in the market by its superior quality product with ISO 9002 and ISO 9001:2000 certifications. Al Ain Mineral water: Clear leader in the cities like Abu Dhabi and Al Ain with more than 40 percent share in the market. It positions itself with great quality product and high customer loyalty. Marketing audit of competitors Analysis of Marketing Program There are several marketing programs done by various brands in the country. For example, Al Ain, which is the brand with maximum percent share in the market, is sponsoring Al Ain International Aerobatics Championship of 2008 (Al Ain Mineral Water, proud sponsor of the Al Ain Air Show introduces bottle recycling programme , 2008). Misafi Mineral Water came up with a flavored mineral water in order to give customers a combination of sweet drink and pure water. There are some other efforts made by several companies for establishing their brands in the market through television ads, newspaper ads, banners, etc. All the market programs done have succeeded only because of the fact that there is huge need of drinking water in the country. Companys Ability to Support Marketing Programs Icelandic Glacial is a company which promoted its water in Film award function in the starting of its business in US. This totally implies that Icelandic Glacial is capable of doing its marketing program in UAE due to the huge organizational as well as financial infrastructure available with the country. Positioning of competitors product/brand There are a very large numbers of competitors in the market but in spite of that there is a huge scope for Icelandic Glacial to sustain in the market because of the fact that need for this product in UAE is huge. At present, there are almost all the international big banners in the field of packaged drinking water present in UAE with enormous number of local manufactures. Among them Al Ain is a company which takes the maximum position in the market with 40 percent of the marker share. Assessment of industry attractiveness and competitors strengths and weaknesses UAE is a country which is very much attractive for a business of packaged drinking water. According to some previous statistics, UAE has the highest per capita income through the packaged drinking water business. This means that market for Icelandic Glacial is to a high degree certain and there is no doubt about that. Competitors for Icelandic Glacial in UAE have the strength that they are well established in the country especially Al Ain, which has huge share in the market but these companies have the weakness that there are so many companies in this industry that it could be possible that the qualities of zero carbon footprint, eco-friendliness and purity of the water could enable Icelandic Glacial to establish a niche in the market.

The Impact of Weak System Security

In addition to this, it is not just the organization itself that can feel the brunt of the impact of weak security. Employees whose responsibility it is to ensure that there are no weaknesses an also be hit hard. Generally, it is up to managers to ensure that there are no weaknesses in a systems security; or at least to reduce the risk of negative impact/damage on the company. This means that if there is a major weakness is found in the system of an organization, managers could lose their jobs as a result of negligence etc. This then puts the managers in a situation where they are losing money, not just the company. Loss of Customers- Weak system security can also result in the loss of customers as people will not want to use a business that has problems with their security s their personal details or information may be at risk. For example, if a bank has a weakness in its security, and this weakness is exploited by hackers; then customers' information may be stolen and used to purcha se goods under their name. This goes against the organization's key responsibilities to its customers as they have a responsibility to keep their customers data safe and hidden from unrestricted access. This means that if people's data is stolen or lost then they will more than likely move to a rival organization where they think that their data will be safer. This will result in the loss of customers from the company and a massive lost in trust; possibly resulting in the loss of jobs as there aren't enough customers to make a profit for the company.Increased Costs- An increase in costs can also be incurred from the weakness in a systems security. This can be caused as a result Of needing a specialist engineer etc to come in to the company to see where the weakness in the systems security is. This may cost a lot of money as it is; and more money will need to be spent in order to get another specialist to come out and fix the problems that are there. In addition to this, customers may wish to receive mom sort of compensation as payment for the information that the company has lost about them. Or Image- A poor company image can be another nasty effect of weak system security. If a major company has even one or two system weaknesses it can reflect very badly on its image as people will start to lose trust in the overall protection that the company offers to its customers. A poor company image can have a massive impact on the ability for a company to make enough money to actually make a profit on the goods they are making/selling. A poor image may then result in the loss of customers and earnings from the many.It is therefore vital that the company ensures that there are no weaknesses in its security so that their company image stays strong. All of the above impacts can be related to the organizations key responsibilities to their Customers. The Organization has a massive responsibility to ensure that all of their customers' personal data is kept secure, and that o nly the people who are authorized to access it are able to and only at the right times. This links in with the data protection act of 1998, as companies must provide suitable means of protecting customers' data.
